Company Profile

Willard Handling Systems Limited Materials Handling Division

Willard Handling Systems Ltd was founded in 1971 by two partners, Willam Carson and Edward Gillard; an amalgamation of William's and Edward's first names gives the company its distinctive title.

Starting off in a small yard in Sharp Street, Hull, a mixture of hard work, good business sense and the willingness to take on, and overcome ever changing handling requirements Willard Handling Systems Ltd soon gained a strong reputation for quality workmanship and value for money.

With this reputation and an ever expanding order book Willard Handling Systems Ltd moved to larger and more suitable premises in 1978. A satellite branch was opened in Grimsby in 1988 but its geographical limitations restricted business to the North East corner of Lincolnshire hence it was decided to relocate to Scunthorpe in 1992 where full coverage via mobile engineers could be obtained for the whole of the M180/A180 corridor as far West as Sheffield and East to the North Sea.

Since the introduction of the Scunthorpe depot our fleet of hire vehicles has risen to around 600 forklift trucks and plant equipment, with new accounts being opened weekly.

To strengthen Willard Handling Systems Ltd's position and to ensure a fast and efficient response to the new customers in the West, a contact and enquiry office has been established and a fully operational depot is planned for West Yorkshire.

Another of the many services Willard Handling Systems Ltd can boast is the well-respected Driver Training School at our Head Office in Hull. Here we can carry out training for beginners, refresher courses and instructor training to RTITB standards. With out two training officers we can also take the training to you for onsite training. In this department we also hold NEBOSH approval and certification.

This company has for many years served a large number of well known and successful businesses in this area, and throughout the United Kingdom, from its headquarters in Kingston Upon Hull and our depot in Scunthorpe; for sales, hire, and rebuilt of forklift trucks and plant equipment, including W H Smith - Do It All, Focus DIY, BP, Croda, Geest, Comet, British Aerospace, CCL, Seafood Specialities, Humberside Sea and Land, etc, etc. Willard Handling Systems Ltd 26 years on still have the same directors, although with Bill's semi-retirement in 1995 Ted is the one holding the reigns. We have 20 field engineers in Hull and Scunthorpe with a further 150 available throughout the United Kingdom. All our engineers are fully trained to service our extensive product range which includes Telescopic Handlers, Loaders and Excavators, Cleaning Equipment, Dumpers and All Terrain Equipment and, of course, Forklift Trucks and Warehouse Equipment.
